Ladies!

$50.00

Update! In the wake of the fall of Roe v. Wade, I’ve added a new poster to the series with the same tone and frustration. It is released on the 4th of July 2022, in honor of half the country losing bodily autonomy.

These three posters were created for Typeforce 11 in February 2020. The idea was to create prints using type that is mostly 100 years old and could have been used to print pro- (or anti-) suffrage posters. The topics cover issues of everyday sexism that women still face today, including many that I regularly deal with. From having legitimate medical conditions chalked up to anxiety, to paying higher taxes for tampons (thankfully not anymore in Illinois), to being reduced to your gender when described in your profession, to losing bodily autonomy to an ideology not based in the realities most women face.
The text is written in homage to the sarcastic but truthful stylings of The Guerrilla Girls’ The Advantages of Being a Woman Artist and recognizes that men are so little affected by policies, taxes and lack of correct information that so greatly affect the day to day lives of women in this country.
The sales of these prints are split between Planned Parenthood of Illinois because they will see women without insurance and myself, to cover my current health insurance premiums and those of my child.

Posters measure 10x20” and are printed in black ink on off-white archival cardstock. They ship flat.
