Cancellaresca Milanese ampersand print

35.00

We're embarking on a series called the Well-Traveled Ampersand, featuring the iconic form from popular typefaces paired with images that represent the geographic region for which they were designed. The shape of each ampersand is filled with antique metal type and ornaments in patterns as well as illustrations.
This beautiful ampersand was designed by Russell Maret. Don't let the name fool you; while it is part of a typeface based on a Milanese type from 1541, the inspiration for the ampersand came from the work of Bernardino Cataneo, the master of writing at the University of Sienna at approximately the same time.

See the last image for the full form used to create the edition.
The print measures 12x12" and fits in an LP-sized frame. Due to the handprinted nature of each print, some variation will occur.

Printed in a limited edition of 125; signed and numbered on the back side of the print.

On recycled white cardstock, it comes in a clear sleeve and ships flat.

Frame not included.
